PHOENIX – True-crime Investigation Discovery television will explore the 2008 murder of Mary Elizabeth Hermann in Cave Creek and the conviction of Justin Lunsford in the premiere of the new season of “Reasonable Doubt.”
Retired Detective Chris Anderson and criminal defense attorney Fatima Silva are using their expertise and resources to re-examine controversial murder cases across the country to determine if the right person is jailed for the crime.
Lunsford and Hermann were last seen leaving a bar together, and Lunsford claims they did not see each other after the next morning.
Hermann, 29, was found dead on July 8 after her house and vehicle were set on fire.
Lunsford, who was 26 at the time, was arrested for the murder of Hermann when a witness placed a man at the crime scene, and Lunsford believes he was forced to plead guilty to a sentence of 23 years to avoid the death penalty.
Along with Lunsford, his brother and wife maintain his innocence and hope Anderson and Silva find proof of his innocence.
The episode airs Monday at 7 p.m. Arizona time.
